Annual Sake Celebration: Sake Day East
This event is the largest and longest standing Sake Day (Nihonshu no Hi) celebration outside of Japan. The event this year was the 17th Annual celebration and is said to have been the largest sake day in the world. One thousand tickets were sold and 100% of the proceeds went to Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California.
It was an emotional day for NSS as it was the first time attending the event in person after the pandemic and one the first public events since the passing of our mentor, founder and friend Ataru Kobayashi. We were honored to see the hashtag #toast2ataru tribute at the venue. Thank you to all who visited the table with kind words and heart felt condolences. We have already saved the date for the 18th Annual Sake Day Celebration on Saturday September 30th for SAKE DAY ’23 – hope to see you there next year!
There is A LOT of sake to try at this event. It never ceases to amaze me how many bottles of sake are available to taste at this event. It is humbling… This year was no different. It felt good to be back in NYC for this public experience and to share our NSS products with so many sake aficionados. We had the honor of participating in the Kagami Biraki ceremony as a tribute to our founder Mr. Ataru Kobayashi. Thank you for allowing us to participate in the event, we look forward to another great event in 2023!
